Snowflake 13

This turned out rather small measuring only 2.5 inches across in Altin Basak Size 50 Col. 3001. Very pretty with the twisted bare threads. Getting the the right length needed some attention.

You have guessed it. Pattern is from Barbara's book.

Thunbergia grandiflora

A climber with showy flowers. I love the colour of the blooms. This was at a hotel in Port Dickson, Malaysia. We were there for a family gathering. It was fun for the kids.

Tsuru's Choice

Tsuru has been picky with her food. I have to keep looking for new brands to keep her interested. Found this at a supermarket recently but she does not seem quite satisfied with it though.

Snowflake 7

Another snowflake from Barbara's book.

No, not tatting all the patterns in this book but maybe half of the patterns. Trying to shake of the fear of twisted chains in Ben Fikkert's Corona. How many more will it take?

This is tatted in two colours of Lizbeth Size 20 - Col. 111 Cotton Candy and 627 Shell Pink Medium.

Snowflake 8

If you compare this to the pattern in Barbara Foster's book, there are extra picots in the centre. I made a mistake adding it and decided not to unpick. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Orange Crush Col. 183. Another one for the coaster. Love the gradation of colours in this thread.

Glutinous Rice Dumplings

Chang season is here although these days you can eat it all year round. This year it falls on 20th June. Made with pork, chestnut, glutinous rice and mushroom wrapped with bamboo leaves and boiled. Read more about it here.

Snowflake 11

This looked so pretty on the blocking board. Some patterns just look better from a distance away. The pattern is from Barbara Foster's book 'Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments'.

I used Lizbeth Size 40 Plum Col. 625. It looks more red here but it has a more dark pink tone than this. I might try this pattern in a Size 20 thread to see the size difference. This measures about 3 inches across.

Tatting on Coasters

Inexpensive coasters embellished simply with tatting. Gifts for friends and loved ones.

Am I ready to continue with Corona? Maybe . . . . or not . .

Little Berry

It was suppose to be a round 3D tatted bead but without anything inside, it could not keep it's shape. Now all it needs is a stalk.

Kimchi

I bought some kimchi (Korean pickles) from the supermarket to try. It is acidic, full of garlic and spicy. It fills the surroundings with its aroma. I much prefer our nyonya achar (local pickles) but it was a nice alternative.

Another pattern from Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments on page 21. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 Zebra Col. 148. It measures 2 inches across.

A snowflake from the book Festive Snowflakes & Ornaments edited by Barbara Foster. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 in Caribbean Col. 122. It measures about 3.8 inches across.

Sea Apple

This morning while waiting for the car, I noticed white stamens on the driveway. Looked up and found that the sea apple tree was flowering.

See the resemblance

"I hate it!!"

Another pretty snowflake pattern from Festive Snowflakes and Ornament edited by Barbara Foster. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Sea Island Citrus Col. 161. It measures about 3.3 inches across.

Snowflake 5

Isn't that pretty? Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Artic Waters Col. 185. Pattern is from the book Festive Snowflakes and Ornament edited by Barbara Foster. It measures about 2.5 inches across.

Squid Ink Pasta

Lunch on Sunday was this - Squid ink pasta with vegetables, mushroom and bacon in a sun dried tomato pesto. Served on a small blue plate so that I would not overeat. Did it work? Sure . . . . . if not for the potato chips I had 2 hours later.
